18 August 2016 Update

As the building is now ten years old there is a need to update the generally ‘tired’ look of the foyer. The staircase has been added during this time and changed the original look and lighting balance of the foyer. Additionally there is a need to address the amount of furniture in the foyer area.

Lighting

A lighting engineer has been engaged to review the existing lighting and provide advice to improve the level of light and create a welcoming feel to the space.  Existing lights (where possible) have been changed to brighter LED lamps.

Painting

Consider changing the ambiance of the large wall (left side as you enter) in foyer entry by removing the metal fins and replacing the  textured board with plain plasterboard and painting with a metallic finish. Similar treatment would be applied to the area just outside the entry door. All other walls and ceilings to be refreshed by painting in the same colours.

Furniture

Most furniture is to be replaced. Consideration in the choice of replacement furniture will look to reduce people congestion near the reception desk area and to lower the noise level in this area by relocating the general seating area to the back of the stairs end of the foyer. The upholstery of the furniture will be based on waterproof fabrics for easy cleaning.  All furniture will be commercial grade.

Artwork

A new artwork is being considered with the aim of creating a lighter happier piece with a theme generally in keeping with the name of the building “Aurora”. The artwork uses a collage effect of crystals, metals and glass in sections to give more light reflection.  Importance is being given to ensuring the artwork can be cleaned and the frame doesn’t warp.

Historic Photographs

Consideration is being given to a wall of historic photographs of the local area (located in the conversation area).

Control of People

To better control the flow of people waiting at the reception desk in busy times consideration is being given to a changed access way into the foyer to work in conjunction with a low fixed petition. The aim would be to corral people who are waiting at the reception desk and create a clearer walk through area on the other side of low wall/screen for movement of other people.
